Fifty-two percent of Democrats supported an investigation by Congress, while 27 percent were opposed, and 22 percent were unsure.

Eighty-four percent of Republicans supported a congressional investigation, compared to nine percent opposing it and seven percent unsure.

The Yahoo News/YouGov survey of 1,538 U.S. adults was conducted from January 12 to January 16 with a margin of error of plus or minus 2.7%.

According to reports, after classified documents from Biden’s time as vice president were discovered in his former office at the Penn Biden Center, a think tank in Washington, D.C., Special Counsel Robert Hur was appointed to investigate the matter. A second collection of documents was discovered at the president’s residence in Wilmington, Delaware.  The White House subsequently confirmed the discovery of two additional batches of documents on January 12 and January 14.

Republican Representative James Comer, chair of the House Oversight and Accountability Committee, has already sent a letter to the Secretary of the Treasury, Janet Yellen, requesting information about the Biden family’s financial affairs.

The new Republican majority in the House of Representatives may decide to investigate Biden’s handling of classified documents.

Rep. Comer wrote to then-White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain requesting visitor logs for Biden’s Delaware home and documents and communications regarding searches for classified documents at Biden’s home and former office.

Comer told the media they would have never known about Biden possessing the classified documents if not for investigative reporting by CBS that obtained a leak to determine that the discovery of the documents happened before the 2020 election.

Comer told CNN that the Biden administration has not been forthcoming regarding President Biden’s possession of classified documents. Former President Trump and current President Biden should be treated equally concerning the documents issue.
