(RoyalPatriot.com )- Several members of America’s ruling elite have shown strong support for censorship since Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced his quest to purchase Twitter in March. The conservative talk show host Tucker Carlson recently reminded his audience that Republicans, including House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, did little to address the problem when the GOP controlled both chambers of Congress.
News outlets reported yesterday that the House Minority Leader, McCarthy, expressed his desire to have other Republican members who share Donald Trump’s election fraud allegations be banned on Twitter. McCarthy remarked during a chat with anti-Trump Congresswoman Liz Cheney (R-WY), a notable McCarthy ally.
“Can’t they take their Twitter accounts away, too?” McCarthy said, referring to Trump loyalists.
McCarthy has also privately expressed his desire for Trump to quit before his tenure as president concluded. McCarthy stated as much in a secret audio tape released shortly after the 2020 presidential election.
McCarthy has publicly expressed his support for free expression on social media platforms. Privately he seems to be pro-censorship.
Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene’s (R-GA) personal Twitter account was permanently blocked. Those on the right chastised him for not being as strong as they would have liked in some circumstances.
McCarthy only spoke out about the incident after receiving negative feedback.
During his Tucker Carlson Tonight broadcast on Tuesday night, the Fox News presenter reminded his viewers of McCarthy’s reluctance to take action.
Carlson’s opening monologue focused chiefly on the reaction of the ruling class to the idea of internet free expression, singling out those on the left who were most vocal in their opposition.
He then zeroed in on the prior statements made by Kevin McCarthy, the top Republican candidate. When discussing the consequences of the very real possibility of McCarthy being appointed Speaker of the House if Republicans regain control of the House in November, Carlson didn’t hold back his rhetoric.
Carlson explained that unless conservatives get their act together, Kevin McCarthy or one of his strongly liberal supporters, such as Elise Stefanik (R-NY), is likely to be elected Speaker of the House in January. That would imply that we would have a Republican-dominated Congress led by a Democratic Party puppet.
Carlson went on to say that individuals in power, regardless of political affiliation, are overwhelmingly in favor of suppression. He said unless the information is leaked, you wouldn’t know anything about how progressive our “Republicans” are.
As a result, you can see why the people in authority are opposed to openness and staunchly defend censorship on both sides.
