Trump Says Biden Should Not Trade Prisoners With Russia For Basketball Player

( )- The alleged prisoner swap that the Biden administration is exploring to obtain the release of WNBA star Brittney Griner and former U.S. Marine Paul Whelan was derided by former President Donald Trump.

Before the opening round of a competition organized by Saudi-backed LIV Golf, Trump chatted to Clay Travis and Buck Sexton at his Bedminster golf club on various subjects. One topic that came up was the rumor that the White House intended to rescue Griner and Whelan from their present detention in return for the release of convicted weapons dealer Viktor Bout to the Russian authorities.

The former president attacked Griner personally while criticizing the deal as a terrible idea.

Trump said that she entered that problematic area, where they are incredibly attentive about drugs, loaded up with substances. He said that they don’t like drugs, and she was caught.

“And now we’re supposed to get her out — and, you know, I think she earns a lot of money,” Trump said.

He said, incredulously, that we’re supposed to get her out in exchange for a person who is one of the top international arms traffickers who killed many Americans and took numerous lives. And we’re going to rescue her while he gets a free card.

Trump said she knew you don’t enter there carrying drugs. He said the prisoner swap doesn’t seem to be a good exchange. He is unquestionably the worst person in the world, and he will be liberated because a person travels to Russia loaded up with drugs.

Trump’s criticism of Griner stems from how she was detained by Russian authorities earlier this year after customs officers discovered marijuana vape cartridges in her luggage. Authorities claim that Griner had 0.7 grams of cannabis oil on her. Although Grinner admitted to drug possession charges despite knowing that the narcotic was banned in Russia, she said in court that she was only packing her luggage quickly and had no intention of breaking the law.
