(RoyalPatriot.com )- Former President Donald Trump is bringing on a new attorney to help him in his defense for the criminal case that led to the FBI raiding his home and office at Mar-a-Lago.
Multiple sources told NBC News that the Chris Kise will now represent Trump in this matter. He is the former solicitor general of Florida and served on the transition team for current Republican Governor Ron DeSantis.
Not long after the FBI raided Mar-a-Lago, sources say that Kise began to negotiate terms of a legal arrangement with Trump. Multiple other sources told NBC News that many criminal defense attorneys said they wouldn’t represent Trump in this case, due to the former president’s “reputation as a penny-pinching problematic client with a history of having rival advisers who backstab one another.”
In order to take on this job representing Trump, Kise reportedly left his previous law firm of Foley & Lardner, which removed him from their list of lawyers on their website after news of this arrangement broke. Kise’s former firm represented the government of Venezuela briefly two years ago as hostilities with the U.S. were quite high.
Kise has plenty of big-time legal experience. He has previously won four cases that were argued in front of the U.S. Supreme Court and many in front of the Florida Supreme Court.
In 2003, Kise was named as state solicitor general in Florida. At the time, George LeMieux was serving as chief of staff to the Attorney General, Charlie Crist. As a former Florida state senator himself, LeMieux commented on Kise:
“Chris is a 360-degree lawyer: appellate, civil, criminal, state and federal — he can do it all.”
That sounds like the type of person that Trump will need to have in his corner in this upcoming fight. The FBI raid of his Mar-a-Lago complex to take allegedly classified documents could end up proving to be the biggest threat to Trump in regard to him facing criminal charges.
Many political pundits have said that the Democrat-led effort was done only a few months before the midterm elections to try to swing more voters to their side. Whether that is true or not, authorities have said they have found multiple classified documents of utmost importance in the trove that they took away from his office and home.
Trump could face some pretty major criminal charges. If he is found guilty of any of them, not only could he obviously face time in prison, he could be prevented from running for any political office in the U.S. in the future.
Because of all of this, it was very important for the former president to retain the services of an experienced and feared criminal defense lawyer, and Kise is apparently that.
Many prominent Republicans have commented on how impressive Kise’s resume is. One of those people is Brian Ballard, who served as a fundraiser and top lobbyist for both DeSantis and Trump. He said recently:
“Chris is not only my friend. He is one of the finest lawyers I have ever met. His unique experience is perfectly suited to assist [former] President Trump.”
