Trump Flatters Donors, Promises Tax Cuts

Since the 46th President Joe Biden entered the oval office in January of 2021, it appears that crises after crises has engulfed the nation. At the southern border, millions of illegals are estimated to have entered the country illegally under Bidens watch, and the head of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas (along with the president) have been candidly derelict in their duty to defend the United States and ensure national security by failing to address the major problem. Inflation brought about at least in part by reckless government spending has crippled the American middle class. 60% of individuals are living paycheck to paycheck, and wages remain stagnant, unable to keep up with the cost of living.

While Biden and the Democrats have undoubtedly governed irresponsibly, Republicans continue to show that they are unable to govern at all even if they wield even a sliver of power. After narrowly taking back the House of Representatives in the 2022 midterms, Republicans in the lower house of congress have bickered incessantly over the speakership. While Kevin McCarthy was elected speaker, he became the first in U.S. history to be removed from that position after a small group of rogue Republicans supported by Democrats ousted him from power.

While Republicans remain dysfunctional, looking ahead to the 2024 presidential election, it appears that the former president Donald Trump is likely to once again be the party’s nominee despite increasing pressure from the media, the left, and establishment Republicans to prevent him from obtaining the nomination. Trump appears energetic and continues to lay out his agenda should he return to power. In a recent donor event at Mar-A-Lago, Trump was seen with Mark Robinson, the Lieutenant Governor of North Carolina. Robinson is attempting to win the governorship in a state that has had a Democrat governor for nearly eight years. Trump urged donors to support Robinson and promised tax cuts should he return to the White House.
