(RoyalPatriot.com )- Former President Donald Trump has now been directly tied to the fake elector plan that would’ve seen the 2020 presidential election results overturned in states Trump did not win.
On Tuesday, the House’s special committee investigating the incidents of January 6, 2021, was able to tie Trump directly to that plan. They presented new details about how Trump tried to cajole and bully people so that he could invalidate the results of the 2020 elections in certain states that did not go his way.
The House committee showed videos of depositions from some former officials as well as testimony given in person by certain Republicans to prove their case. The evidence presented showed Trump’s involvement in getting many allies to work over state lawmakers and various election officials following the election.
They showed that the group threatened violence and harassed people who resisted their plot.
The questioning in this part of the hearing was led by Representative Adam Schiff, a Democrat from California. At one point, he said:
“The president’s lie was and is a dangerous cancer on the body politic. If you can convince Americans they cannot trust their own elections, that any time they lose is somehow illegitimate, then what is left but violence to determine who should govern?”
The overall plan involved Trump and two of his biggest allies — personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani and White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows. The trio led a group of people who tried to persuade officials at the state level to not certifying counts from the 2020 presidential election. Ultimately, they hoped to change the results so they would be in Trump’s favor.
Part of the plan was creating an alternate group of electors for those states he lost. Then, they hoped that then-Vice President Mike Pence would go to those group of electors instead of the original ones when certifying the results of the Electoral College on January 6, 2021.
Obviously, that didn’t happen. What followed was the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol building.
Other legislators who were ultimately tied to the fake elector plan by the House committee are Representatives Ron Johnson from Wisconsin and Andy Biggs from Arizona.
One person who rebuffed the efforts of the Trump plan was Rusty Bowers who serves as Arizona’s speaker of the state House. In testifying on Tuesday, he said:
“I didn’t want to be used as a pawn.”
He said that he told Trump: “You are asking me to do something against my oath, and I will not break my oath.”
Bowers then explained how he was targeted for harassment following that decision. A truck drove through his neighborhood and played a recording that said Bowers was a pedophile. His daughter, who was gravely ill at the time, was also harassed outside the family home. Their daughter passed away last year.
An election worker in Georgia, Wandrea Moss, also testified that she was harassed after being named in a false fraud claim made by Trump. She said:
“It’s turned my life upside-down. It’s affected my life in a major way — in every way — all because of lies.”
