Former Republican Rep. Liz Cheney last Sunday blasted Donald Trump for re-posting a Truth Social meme that accused the former Wyoming lawmaker of being guilty of treason, saying it demonstrated that the former president was “not fit for office.”
The meme, by Truth Social user “@Pobossmemes,” was included in a reply to a post by Trump. The meme called on Truth Social users to “re-Truth” the meme if they wanted “Televised Military Tribunals.”
The former president then re-posted the meme to his Truth Social account.
Unsurprisingly, Trump’s “re-Truth” caught the eye of the left-wing group MeidasTouch, which posted a screenshot of the Truth Social post on X.
In her quote-post, Cheney suggested that “re-Truthing” the meme demonstrated once again that Trump was “not a stable adult” and “not fit for office.”
This isn’t the first time Trump has suggested that Liz Cheney should be prosecuted. He previously called for the members of the January 6 select committee, which included Cheney, to be prosecuted for purposely withholding information and witnesses testimony that contradicted the committee’s claims about the January 6 riot.
Last month, Missouri Republican Rep. Eric Burlison introduced a resolution to rescind the subpoenas the January 6 committee issued to Peter Navarro, Steve Bannon, Mark Meadows, and Daniel Scavino, which would also withdraw the congressional recommendation that the Justice Department charge the four men with contempt of Congress.
The resolution, not to mention Trump’s call for prosecutions, was in response to the House Administration Subcommittee on Oversight’s March report that accused the committee of withholding from the public some witness transcripts that undermined some of the January 6 committee’s more dramatic claims.
Rep. Burlison argued in a statement that it was well “past time” for the House to undo the harm caused by the January 6 select committee, which he said was “legally deficient” and “nothing more than a political witch hunt.”
