Sen. Ted Cruz believes that Democrats have a deep-seated hostility to democratic processes and are petrified of the prospect of people voting for former President Donald Trump for a second term as president.
Consequently, they are actively supporting the idea that he should be indicted on several crimes to forestall the possibility of his running for office again.
During an interview on Newsmax’s “Eric Bolling The Balance” on Wednesday night, the Texas Republican indicated that they are using law enforcement machinery to prosecute him. The right has long accused the left of weaponizing the DOJ. Cruz was animated when he said that the indictments against Trump should be dismissed immediately. “They are a disgrace,” the senator said.
In a previous week’s statement, Trump announced receiving a letter from Jack Smith, the special counsel. It was a notification informing him that he was the focus of the ongoing federal investigation into the events at the Capitol on January 6, 2021.
According to the letter, Donald Trump was indicted on 37 counts connected to his handling of presidential records by the federal government in June, but he pled not guilty to all of the charges.
In addition, in April, a 34-count indictment was brought against him in New York by Alvin Bragg, the Democrat Manhattan District Attorney. Trump pleaded not guilty.
The former president, who is presently a prominent contender for the nomination of the Republican Party for president in 2024, is the subject of an investigation in Georgia for allegedly trying to alter the results of the presidential election in the state in 2020.
Cruz said to Bolling that he not only feels that indicting Trump in connection with the demonstrations on January 6 would be an abuse of authority and power.
The senator said they engage in partisan political activity inside the Justice Department. This iteration of the Department of Justice, the Attorney General’s office, and the FBI has become increasingly political and armed.
In addition, Cruz urged that Attorney Merrick Garland be removed from his position and impeached for allegedly allowing the Department of Justice to become a vehicle used to target the White House’s political opponents.
