(RoyalPatriot.com )- James Gunn, the head of DC Studios, declared this week that he would not be recasting Henry Cavill in his upcoming “Superman” film.
According to Variety, Gunn stated that he and co-head Peter Safran had a new slate of films to release and would be disclosing more details after the new year.
Gunn said he and Peter have a DC slate ready to go, and they couldn’t be happier about it. At the start of the new year, they’ll be able to share some exciting information about their first projects.
“Henry Cavill won’t be playing the role,” he said, “because the new film will focus on Superman’s early years.”
Gunn reassured Fans, however, that he and Safran had spoken to Cavill and “talked about a number of exciting possibilities to work together in the future.”
Cavill responded by saying it was difficult to hear the news in a statement published on his Instagram account.
The actor wrote on Instagram on Wednesday that he just had a meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran, and “it’s sad news, everyone.” “I won’t be coming back as Superman.”
He said the news wasn’t the easiest to share after the studio instructed him to announce his recasting back in October, but that’s life. He said, “The changing of the guard is something that happens. I respect that.”
Then, Cavill wished Gunn and Safran luck with their fresh interpretation of the DC film universe.
He said we could mourn for a while, but after that, we must remember that Superman is still alive.
He said the examples he sets for us are still there, and everything he stands for is still true.
“My turn to wear the cape has passed, but what Superman stands for never will. It’s been a fun ride with you all, onwards and upwards,” Cavill said.
According to sources who spoke with Variety, Cavill recently met with Gunn and Safran, who are working on casting him in another role within “the comic book universe.”
