Starbucks Forced To Shut Down Multiple Stores Over Surging Crime

(RoyalPatriot.com )- After promoting the pro-crime Defund the Police movement, the Starbucks Corporation is finally discovering that pro-crime doesn’t pay.

Last Monday, Starbucks announced that it would be closing 16 locations in US five cities over concerns for workers’ safety.

The coffee giant will be permanently closing six stores in its home city of Seattle, and six more in the Los Angeles area. Two locations in Portland, as well as a store in Philly and another in DC will also be shut down.

The company will also continue to allow store managers to decide if they want to keep their restrooms open to non-customers. Store managers will also have leeway to limit seating or reduce operations as a way to deal with safety concerns.

It is rather ironic, isn’t it?

Several years ago, Starbucks made the executive decision to turn their customer restrooms into public toilets. The company also installed needle-disposal containers in their bathrooms after its employees petitioned for them.

And what happened? The employees got more than they bargained for.

The stores located in deep blue, high-crime cities became hotbeds of drug abuse, violence, and crime.

Store managers began to complain to the company that employees no longer felt safe at some locations. Initially, the company responded by allowing individual managers more discretion to deny free access to bathrooms.

But the incidents continued.

The Wall Street Journal reported last week that Starbucks’ US operations chiefs Debbie Stroud and Denise Nelson sent a message to employees on Monday saying Starbucks “cannot serve as partners if we don’t first feel safe at work.”

In his letter to Starbucks employees, CEO Harold Schultz blamed the store closures on “the evolving behaviors, needs, and expectations of our partners or customers.”

Really? People expecting to be safe from violence and open drug use while getting a cup of burnt coffee is an “evolving behavior?”

The company said employees affected by the closures would be transferred to another location if they choose.
