SNL Star Thanks Fans As He Takes Break From Acting

As Dana Carvey continues to mourn the death of his son Dex, he’s expressed gratitude to fans for their support.

He wrote that he and his wife have been overwhelmed by well-wishers’ love, personal experiences, and compassion,” the “SNL” veteran said in a Saturday social media message in which he expressed his gratitude.

The Carvey’s said that people who knew Dex sent them many heartfelt notes. Dana went on to say that these meant more to them than words could possibly convey.

“Trying to figure out what life looks like now that we are a family of three,” the “Wayne’s World” actor said, adding that he would be “taking a vacation from work and social media.”

Last Monday, Carvey made it official that his son Dex, who was 32 years old, had died from a heroin overdose. He wrote on social media that, tragically, their dear son Dex passed away due to an accidental drug overdose. His age was 32.

That 32 years were jam-packed with Dex’s accomplishments, Carvey said, adding that he enthusiastically explored his various talents, which included music, painting, filmmaking, and humor.

Dex Carvey was the elder among the two children born to Dana Carvey and Zwagerman. Thomas Carvey, who is 30 years old, is their second son.

Dex passed away on Wednesday at his home, as reported by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office. The official cause of death is still pending, but an autopsy was performed Thursday.

His wife and husband were proud of their son’s dedication to his artistic pursuits, which included acting, comedy, filmmaking, and music.

Carvey said that saying that Dex enjoyed life is not an overstatement. He said you felt the same way about life when he was around. “He brought joy to every situation,” the dad bragged. “His fiancée, Kaylee, his family, and friends were his first and foremost loves.”
