(RoyalPatriot.com )- In May of 2020, after several local Planned Parenthood affiliates had obtained $80 million from Paycheck Protection Program, the Small Business Administration (SBA) determined that local affiliates of Planned Parenthood were not eligible for PPP loans under the application affiliation rules, and ordered that these loans be returned.
When the latest pork-laden “COVID Relief” spending bill was going through the reconciliation process earlier this year, Democrats attempted to waive the SBA rules that barred Planned Parenthood from the Paycheck Protection Program. However, Senator Rand Paul fought them on it forcing Democrats to quietly remove the waiver.
And yet it appears local Planned Parenthood affiliates are getting PPP loans anyway.
Back in April, Senator Paul, the Ranking Member of the Senate Small Business Committee, sent a letter to the SBA regarding Planned Parenthood’s unlawful participation in the Paycheck Protection Program. He demanded that SBA investigate the matter and provide additional information by April 23, 2021.
Nearly a month later, Senator Paul has still not received an answer from the SBA.
So on May 10, Senator Paul sent a follow-up letter to SBA demanding an investigation into the matter.
The letter was also signed by Republican Senators Marco Rubio (FL), James Risch (ID), Tim Scott (SC), Joni Ernst (IA), James Inhofe (OK), Todd Young (IN), John Kennedy (LA), Josh Hawley (MO), and Roger Marshall (KS).
“[S]ince our April 15 letter to you, SBA approved PPP loans for at least two additional PPFA affiliates according to the most recent public data posted to the Agency’s website,” the letter states. “This includes a $10 million dollar loan, the maximum loan amount, to a PPFA affiliate just last week.”
Senator Paul once again requested the information he asked for in April. Additionally, Senator Paul has asked a detailed explanation “explaining why the SBA continues to approve PPP loans to PPFA affiliates despite the agency’s previous determination that they were ineligible for PPP.”
The explanation is probably no more complicated than the Democrats now control the Small Business Administration.
