Putin Open to Negotiations with Trump
Russian President Vladimir Putin has signaled his readiness to engage in negotiations with former U.S. President Donald Trump regarding the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Putin’s stance comes as Trump has called for a swift resolution to the war, expressing his willingness to meet with the Russian leader.
Putin described his relationship with Trump as “businesslike, pragmatic and trustworthy,” suggesting that a meeting between the two leaders could be beneficial. “We believe the current President’s statements about his readiness to work together. We are always open to this and ready for negotiations,” Putin stated.
While expressing openness to negotiations, Trump has also taken a firm stance, threatening economic pressure on Russia if no deal is reached. The former president has suggested implementing sanctions and tariffs, as well as urging OPEC to lower oil prices to impact Russia’s revenue.
“It would be better for us to meet, based on the realities of today, to talk calmly,” Vladimir Putin said.
Despite these threats, Putin has downplayed their potential impact, stating that low oil prices would be detrimental to both countries. Moscow officials have maintained a cautious response to Trump’s statements, reiterating their firm demands for ending the conflict.
We never heard a word from Putin while Biden was President. Now Trump’s back in town, he’s ready to talk. Just like Trump said he would.
Kremlin Calls for Nuclear Disarmament Talks
In a parallel development, the Kremlin has expressed a strong interest in resuming nuclear disarmament talks with the United States. Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov emphasized the urgency of restarting these negotiations, which have been stalled due to tensions over the Ukraine conflict.
“Of course we are interested in this negotiation process starting as soon as possible,” Peskov said.
The call for renewed disarmament talks comes in the wake of Russia’s withdrawal from the “New START” arms control agreement with Washington in 2023. This move, along with the termination of several other arms control treaties in recent years, has heightened concerns about global nuclear stability.
Trump is already preventing a third world war – and a nuclear war, at that.
The potential for negotiations between Trump and Putin, coupled with the prospect of renewed disarmament talks, presents both challenges and opportunities for international diplomacy. While Trump has not detailed a specific plan to end the Ukraine war, his VP, JD Vance, has suggested the possibility of a demilitarized zone.
We could see progress on this very soon.
Do you think the media will admit they got it wrong when that happens?
