(RoyalPatriot.com )- New York Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the leader of the progressives in the House, started yet another Twitter feud with the social media company’s owner, Eon Musk.
AOC went on a rant after Musk decided to suspend multiple liberal journalists after they posted what Musk said were “assassination coordinates.” The journalists were basically posting his location in real-time.
Each of the journalists in question were given a suspension of seven days from the platform. They included Aaron Rupar, a former Vox journalist; Keith Olbermann, commentator for MSNBC; Matt Binder of Mashable; Drew Harwell, a reporter for The Washington Post; Ryan Mac, a reporter for the New York Times Tech; Micah Lee of The Intercept; and Donie O’Sullivan of CNN.
In announcing these suspensions, Musk tweeted:
“They posted my exact real-time location, basically assassination coordinates, in (obvious) direct violation of Twitter terms of service.”
AOC responded that since Musk wants to play a very public life, he needed to deal with hassles like these and just accept them. He even compared what he did to fascism.
AOC replied to Musk’s tweet by writing:
“You’re a public figure. An extremely controversial and powerful one. I get feeling unsafe, but descending into abuse of power + erratically banning journalists only increases the intensity around you. Take a beat and lay off the proto-fascism. Maybe try putting down your phone.”
AOC didn’t stop there, though. She went even further and said that the fact that she herself faces an increased security level is because of Musk’s actions. She wrote:
“As someone who has been subject to real + dangerous plots, I do get it. I didn’t have security and have experienced many scary incidents. In fact, many of the right-wing outlets you now elevate published photos of my home, car, etc. At a certain point you gotta disconnect.”
Musk responded directly to AOC with a simple quip:
“You First.”
Last week, Musk suspended a Twitter account called “ElonJet,” which was run by 20-year-old Jack Sweeney. The account was tracking the movements of Musk by using public domain data.
Reuters reported that Musk originally let the account remain open, but they changed his mind after his son was physically harassed by a “crazy stalker.”
He then went off against liberals who he alluded were hypocritical. Musk tweeted:
“If anyone posted real-time locations & addresses of NYT reporters, FBI would be investigating, there’d be hearings on Capitol Hill & Biden would give speeches about end of democracy!”
Ironically enough, AOC railed against free speech basically a few weeks ago when Musk held a public poll asking whether he should restore the account of former President Donald Trump. On November 18, she wrote:
“Idk man, last time [Trump] was here this platform was used to incite an insurrection, multiple people died, the Vice President of the United States was nearly assassinated. And hundreds were injured but I guess that’s not enough for you to answer the question. Twitter poll it is.”
AOC even cited a finding by the House’s special January 6 committee that found that Twitter played “a critical role in the violence that day.”
