(RoyalPatriot.com )- Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a representative from New York, is being looked into by the House Ethics Committee, according to 19FortyFive.
The committee said last week that an investigation into AOC’s actions was underway, but the statement was vague and didn’t make clear what the investigation was all about.
The investigation could be related to the whole Met Gala/dress controversy. AOC wore a designer dress with the words “Tax the Rich” on her backside in large red letters to the Met Gala about 15 months ago. Conservatives requested that the ethics committee investigate how AOC received complimentary tickets to the $35,000 Met Gala (plus a designer dress).
But there was nothing about a dress in the Ethics committee’s statement.
According to a statement, “Representative Alexandria Ocasio-matter, Cortez’s, which was transmitted to the Committee by the Office of Congressional Ethics on June 23, 2022, has been extended by the Acting Chairwoman and Acting Ranking Member of the Committee on Ethics.”
What is being discussed is mysterious and unclear.
The statement continued, “The Committee notes that the mere fact of a referral or an extension, as well as the requirement to disclose such an extension and the name of the subject of the matter, does not itself indicate that any violation has occurred, or reflect any judgment on behalf of the Committee. Following its organizational meeting and the adoption of Committee Rules in the 118th Congress, the Committee will announce its course of action in this matter.”
Not all of the criticism of the gala came from the right. Yes, the right was the one who brought the Met incident before the Ethics Committee. However, the left also gave AOC grief regarding the Met Gala because AOC’s attendance at the event supported a lot of AOC’s left-wing critics. Specifically, that AOC is a fraud.
The growing consensus is that AOC is more of a celebrity or influencer than a politician or public servant. Her Gala appearance didn’t exactly scream Defender of the Working Class. She galivanted at a celebrity party with $35,000 entrance fees.
The dress comes next. With the Tax the Rich dress, AOC intended to be edgy as she attended an event for the wealthiest people in the world. However, AOC’s attendance weakened the point. The dress was a glaring oxymoron because it was chic, expertly tailored, and expensive.
It should have read, “Tax Me.”
