A new poll shows that most American voters strongly disapprove of the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025, which has been linked to Donald Trump’s election campaign. The Foundation, in partnership with other conservative groups, devised Project 2025 as a recommended roadmap for America under a future conservative White House administration, but an NBC poll revealed that 57% of Americans oppose its contents, while only 4% approve. In a separate Navigator Survey poll in June, the figure who viewed Project 2025 unfavorably was even higher, at 67%.
The document includes proposals to make it easier for a President to fire federal employees and replace them with loyalists, a ban on abortion pills and prosecutions of those caught using them, and the abolition of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives.
Women’s groups say that Project 2025, which is more than 900 pages long, particularly threatens women’s freedoms and rights, with some comparing it to life in Margaret Atwood’s dystopian novel The Handmaid’s Tale. The National Women’s Law Center (NWLC) argues it would not only jeopardize reproductive health care but allow discrimination against women at work and “attacks” on education.
While Donald Trump has repeatedly distanced himself from the project, the NWLC states that more than 140 former Trump administration officials helped write the document, and the former President is a close ally of its main proponent, Heritage Foundation leader Kevin Roberts.
CNN reported in July that six of Trump’s former Cabinet secretaries and four of his ambassador nominations were involved in formulating the document. The left-leaning network found almost 240 personnel connections between Mr. Trump and Project 2025 – a revelation that Democrats and Kamala Harris are using to their advantage.
During their Philadelphia debate, the Vice President told millions of Americans that Project 2025 is Trump’s “detailed and dangerous” plan for the American people. Tim Walz repeats that claim at his campaign rallies around the country, often eliciting loud boos from an audience of Democrats.
The Heritage Foundation has reacted with fury to Democrat denunciation of their proposals, saying it has incited violence, including two assassination attempts on Donald Trump. The Foundation insists it will continue to pursue its goals regardless of who is elected to the White House in November.
