Nancy Pelosi Makes Surprise Career Endorsement In Major Election

( )-
According to Politico, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., has backed Rep. Charlie Crist, D-Fla., in his bid to unseat Florida Governor Ron DeSantis in November.
Crist, the former governor of Florida, is competing against state Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried and state Senator Annette Taddeo for the Democratic nomination.
“I’ve worked with Charlie in Congress for the past six years, and I’ve watched him fight for Floridians every day,” Pelosi said in a campaign video first obtained by Politico.
DeSantis, who has been cited as a prospective GOP presidential contender in 2024, is now favored to win re-election. He has been a vocal opponent of President Joe Biden’s progressive policies, including COVID-19 lockdowns, immigration, critical race theory, and police support.
Crist and Pelosi have served in Congress together for the previous six years, with Crist representing Florida’s 13th Congressional District. She joins a list of more than 130 government officials and community leaders who have already backed Crist.

Pelosi claimed Crist’s efforts in Washington have safeguarded Florida’s business sector from the economic impact of the COVID-19 outbreak and helped create a multibillion-dollar investment in the state’s infrastructure in a statement to Florida Politics.

“From his diligent work in Congress to his dedication to Floridians across the state,” Pelosi said, “Charlie Crist has an ironclad record of fighting for the people of Florida and achieving outcomes that matter.” “Charlie has the ability to unseat the incumbent Governor and get right to work on Day One.”

According to the Huffington Post, Charlie Christ continues to fight allegations that he gave George LeMieux a senate seat in exchange for keeping quiet about two gay affairs Crist had while in office.

Charlie Crist left the Republican Party in the wake of the tea party’s revolt against Barack Obama.

Speaking of DeSantis, Crist says he sees Florida’s diversity as a weakness, not a strength that we all value.

Crist says he is a governor who doesn’t listen, doesn’t care, and doesn’t think about you unless “you can write a campaign check.”

This is rich coming from a guy who switched parties for opportunistic reasons.
