(RoyalPatriot.com )- So-called “Republican” senator Mitt Romney has accused the Republican National Committee of sending an “inappropriate message” about the January 6 riots in Washington, D.C. He told reporters on Monday that he had “exchanged some texts” with the chairwoman of the Republican National Committee, Ronna McDaniel, who also happens to be his niece.
Romney was one of seven Republican senators who voted to impeach former President Donald Trump over false accusations that he incited a violent insurrection on January 6. He is angry that the RNC is not kowtowing to the Democrats and calling the riot an insurrection.
Doesn’t Romney realize that the only person who died as a result of violence that day was Ashley Babbitt, an unarmed protester who was shot by a Capitol Police officer?
Romney’s comments come after the Republican National Committee voted to censure Reps. Adam Kinzinger and Liz Cheney, the only two Republicans who sit on the ultra-partisan House committee that claims to be investigating the origins of the January 6 riots. The two legislators have parroted the same contested claims by Democrats, namely that the riot was an insurrection and that former President Trump was trying to overthrow American democracy.
There’s a reason only two Republicans are sitting on the panel, and it’s because most Republicans recognize these claims to be wildly inaccurate and purposely misleading.
Romney said that censuring them was an “inappropriate message.”
“One, to sanction two people of character as they did. But number two, to suggest that a violent attack on the seat of democracy is legitimate political discourse is so far from accurate as to shock and make people wonder what we’re thinking,” he said.
Would you expect anything else from Mitt Romney? The man who gave an impassioned speech in the 2016 Republican primaries opposing Donald Trump, only to go crawling back to him after he won the election asking for a job in his cabinet?
If Mitt Romney is exchanging text messages with the RNC leader trying to influence her decisions off the back of his family ties to her, he better start publishing the contents of those messages.
