Lobbying Effort Under Fire With Links To Zuckerberg And Soros

(RoyalPatriot.com )- The group funded by Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan reportedly provided hundreds of thousands of dollars in grants to a Soros-backed nonprofit group that may have illegally failed to disclose its lobbying activities.

The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative (CZI) gave a total of $440,000 in 2019 and 2020 to Alianza Americas, a 501(c)(3) pro-immigration group, including money related to an issue Alianza reportedly lobbied Congress about during that same time.

Alianza has called for the defunding of both ICE and Customs and Border Protection. It is largely funded by the George Soros group Open Society Foundations, receiving around $1.4 million from the group between 2016 and 2020.

The group made national news in September after it filed a lawsuit against Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for flying illegal immigrants to Martha’s Vineyard.

The conservative watchdog group the National Legal and Policy Center filed a complaint with the IRS last month urging the agency to investigate whether Alianza violated federal law when it claimed on its 2019 and 2020 tax returns that it did not lobby Congress, despite the group disclosing “extensive lobbying activities” in the same tax returns.

Zuckerberg and Chan’s CZI is a limited-liability corporation. The vast majority of funding (99 percent) comes from the couple’s vast wealth. CZI donates to leftwing causes through its 501(c)(4) lobbying arm. It also donates through a donor-advised fund through the Silicon Valley Community Foundation as well as its 501(c)(3) charity.

According to records, CZI gave $400,000 to Alianza for its advocacy efforts related to Temporary Protected Status, a policy that permits immigrants to remain in the US if their home country is engaged in armed conflict or other extraordinary conditions. At the time it received the funding from CZI, Alianza disclosed on its tax returns that Temporary Protected Status was one of the efforts on which it lobbied Congress.
