Liz Cheney Runs Away To Liberal Media

( )- It’s finally official: Liz Cheney has been removed from the GOP leadership in the House of Representatives.

On Wednesday, it took only 15 minutes for the Republican caucus to vote to remove Cheney, the outspoken Representative from Wyoming who voted to impeach former President Donald Trump earlier this year. Cheney was the third-highest-ranking member of the House GOP before the vote.

Cheney didn’t even try to fight against being removed from her position. Instead, she chose to give a final speech that was, in a word, defiant. On Tuesday night, she gave a speech from the House floor in which she criticized the Republican Party as a whole, and said she wouldn’t sit on the sidelines.

She warned that Trump created a threat in America that hadn’t ever been seen before. He “provoked a violent attack” as president “in an effort to steal the election,” she said. Then, he continued to spread lies about the election.

She continued:

“Remaining silent and ignoring the lie emboldens the liar. I will not participate in that. I will not sit back and watch in silence while others lead our party down a path that abandons the rule of law and joins the former president’s crusade to undermine our democracy.”

In the meeting minutes before the vote, which was held in private, Cheney tried to urge others not to “let the former president drag us backward,” a source familiar with the discussions said.

She also said if the GOP wanted a leader who’d “enable and spread his destructive lies,” then they should definitely vote to remove her from her position, because there were “plenty of others to choose from.”

Following the vote that removed her from leadership, Cheney flocked to liberal media immediately to blast Trump and those who have fallen in line behind him. She told reporters following the vote:

“I will do everything I can to ensure that the former president never again gets anywhere near the Oval Office. We have seen the danger that he continues to provoke with his language. We have seen his lack of commitment and dedication to the Constitution.”

Apparently, Cheney has no plans of not speaking out, even if she won’t be doing it from a position in the House GOP leadership.

She invited photographer David Hume Kennerly to record everything that was going on during the day behind the scenes. She then gave a lengthy interview on TV with NBC within one hour after the vote was tallied.

In that interview, Cheney defended her comments from the past, and vowed to continue fighting against Trump. She said:

“I intend to be the leader, one of the leaders, in a fight to help to restore our party, in a fight to bring our party back to substance and principle and in a fight to make clear that we won’t participate in the really dangerous effort that’s underway.”

In other words, Cheney intends to work hard against the unquestioned leader of the Republican Party, even as her direct bosses say she’s wrong.
