Liz Cheney Claims GOP Threatens Democracy

( )- Just before House Republicans voted to remove Rep. Liz Cheney from her position as the House GOP Conference Chair, the embattled “Republican” congresswoman hit out at members of her own party and warned that they were aiding in efforts to “undermine our democracy.”

It was a last-ditched effort that ultimately went unheard, as Republicans voted on Wednesday to remove her from the third-highest-ranking post in the party. The meeting took only 16 minutes – a stark contrast to the four-hour vote that took place in February, where she managed to hold on to her leadership position thanks to the support of House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy.

In a four-minute speech on Tuesday night, Cheney tried to pitch herself as a defender of the United States Constitution and insisted that she would not back down in her fight against former President Donald Trump and his Make America Great Again agenda.

“Remaining silent and ignoring the lie emboldens the liar,” she said, wrongly implying that former President Trump is lying about the existence of evidence of fraud and misconduct in the last presidential election.

She could soon be eating her words when the results of the Arizona audit are revealed…

“I will not sit back and watch in silence while others lead our party down a path that abandons the rule of law and joins the former president’s crusade to undermine our democracy,” she continued.

The comment was particularly confusing, given that former President Donald Trump has repeatedly said that he intends to strengthen voter ID laws and ensure that fraud cannot occur – a measure that would strengthen, not undermine, American democracy.

It’s not the first time she’s told this lie, though. Just this month she insisted Trump was pushing a “BIG LIE” that election fraud occurred in the 2020 race.

It’s no wonder she was booted from the party leadership.
