President Joe Biden utilized his “Pride Month” proclamation to express his concerns about certain states’ actions aimed at safeguarding children from undergoing body-altering procedures under the guise of “gender affirmation.”
At the start of June, the White House published President Biden’s “Proclamation on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Intersex Pride Month, 2023.”
The proclamation commences by referencing the pivotal Stonewall Inn riots of 1969 and highlights that “pride” represents a commemoration of countless LGBTQI+ individuals who have courageously fought for the freedom to live openly and genuinely.
Significantly, the LGBTQI+ acronym expands on the traditional LGBT acronym by incorporating “queer” and “intersex” to enhance inclusivity.
A February Gallup survey revealed that only 0.1 percent of U.S. adults identify as “queer.” However, President Biden’s acronym falls short of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s well-known “2SLGBTQQIA+ people.”
“It serves as a reminder that we still have a long way to go across generations to ensure that everyone experiences the full promise of equity, dignity, protection, and freedom,” he remarked, employing the term embraced by the progressive movement instead of “equality.”
Continuing his address, Biden declared that the country stands at “another crucial moment,” condemning laws that aim to prevent children from undergoing life-altering surgeries or “treatments” as “hateful.”
“During 2023 alone, more than 600 discriminatory laws aimed at the LGBTQI+ community have been introduced by state and local legislatures.
Books depicting LGBTQI+ individuals are facing bans in libraries, and transgender youth in over a dozen states are being denied medically necessary healthcare.”
Biden stated, noting that the “homophobic and transphobic hatred expressed online has spilled over into real-life situations.”
Almost a year has passed since a report by Florida Medicaid deemed these affirmative treatments as “experimental and investigational.”
Additionally, Florida uncovered a selection of books in school libraries, which the left often discusses, revealing that many of them contained inappropriate, pornographic material. Despite the left’s denials, these facts were undeniable.
Despite everything, Biden declared that the “LGBTQI+ community continues to demonstrate resilience” and embraces their identity with unwavering pride.
Biden expressed, “In this month and every month, let us commemorate the strength that fuels the LGBTQI+ rights movement and pledge to contribute towards fulfilling the American dream for all citizens.”
