Joe Biden Appoints Long-Time Friend To Key Position

( )- This week, the White House announced that President Biden would be appointing his longtime friend and ally Tony Allen, president of Delaware State University, to the chair of the president’s board of advisors on Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU).

Allen became president of the historically black Delaware State University in January of 2020. Prior to that, he served as the university’s executive vice president.

Allen also oversaw President Biden’s inauguration committee late last year. From 1997 to 2000, Allen served as then-Senator Biden’s special assistant and speechwriter.

Tony Allen has also served as the managing director of corporate reputation at Bank of America. He is the co-founder of the Metropolitan Wilmington Urban League and Public Allies Delaware. Allen is also on the boards of Graham Holdings and Pepco Holdings, as well as the Economic and Community Advisory Council for the Philadelphia Federal Reserve.

The president’s board of advisors exists to advance the HBCU Initiative – a program established by President Jimmy Carter to direct the Secretary of Education to support historically black colleges and universities.

Last week President Biden signed an executive order to reestablish Carter’s initiative as well as create a “government-wide approach” for supporting historically black colleges and universities. What a “government-wide approach” means is anybody’s guess. It is doubtful the agriculture department or the US Postal Service can offer much support.

Using pandemic relief, the Biden administration committed more than $4 billion in support of Historically Black Colleges and Universities. It has also forgiven debt for some of the institutions.

Delaware State University is ranked the third best public HBCU in the country.

During the 2020 election, Joe Biden got into a bit of hot water when he claimed at a campaign event in South Carolina that he “got started out of a HBCU — Delaware State University.”

Biden did not attend to Delaware State University. Though, he did give a commencement speech there in 2016 where he was awarded an honorary doctoral degree.

Given Biden’s failing memory and penchant for lies, perhaps he thought receiving an honorary doctorate in 2016 made him a graduate of the university.
