False Claims Spark Controversy
Illinois Governor JB Pritzker and Chicago Public Schools CEO Pedro Martinez are under fire for making misleading statements about Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) activities at a local elementary school. The controversy began when Martinez incorrectly stated on MSNBC that ICE agents had visited the school, despite knowing that the officials were actually from the Secret Service investigating a TikTok threat.
Governor Pritzker further exacerbated the situation by sharing this false information on social media, prompting a community note correction. These actions have drawn sharp criticism from Tom Homan, the current Border Czar, who argues that such misinformation causes unnecessary fear and panic within immigrant communities.
Homan has called for both Pritzker and Martinez to issue formal apologies to ICE for their misleading statements. He emphasizes the importance of accurate reporting, especially when it comes to sensitive issues involving immigration enforcement.
“Pedro Martinez lied. He lied to the city of Chicago cuz he knew they were Secret Service agents, because I talked to people involved. They left their credentials. He knew exactly who was there. So he lied. Again, sowing fear in the immigrant community,” Tom Homan said.
“Pritzker needs to give ICE an apology,” he added.
He’s right!
The Border Czar also pointed out that such false claims not only damage ICE’s reputation but also create unnecessary tension between law enforcement and the communities they serve. Homan argues that children should not be taught to fear ICE agents, as the agency plays a crucial role in protecting children from predators and other threats.
Tom Homan is out there arresting criminals and holding the radical left accountable.
