The President’s son’s lawyer made a stunning admission in court that Hunter Biden has received hundreds of thousands of dollars from a company in China. Chris Clark said Chinese energy firm CEFC paid Hunter Biden $664,000 in 2017. The company has strong links to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
The Biden family finances are under scrutiny thanks to the House Oversight Committee’s investigations, including its subpoena for an FD-1023 document held by the FBI and containing allegations that President Biden took cash for favors during the Obama administration. The form alleges that the President helped get a prosecutor fired in Ukraine on behalf of Burisma, an energy company that invited Hunter Biden to sit on its board.
Devon Archer, a former business associate of Hunter Biden, has testified to the House Oversight Committee that speaker-phone calls were made to then-Vice President Biden, from business board rooms, on around twenty occasions. In one instance, it is alleged that Biden Senior received a call from the Burisma board, and days later, the prosecutor investigating the company was fired.
The court hearing was the latest shock for the Bidens as the judge threw out a controversial plea deal Hunter Biden made with prosecutors from the Department of Justice. The President’s son was allowed to avoid jail time on charges related to unpaid taxes and unlawful possession of a firearm. However, US District Court Judge Maryellen Noreika said that she was not prepared to accept the deal and ordered legal teams to hash out another one.
The testimony alleging President Biden’s involvement with Hunter Biden’s business dealings contradicts the President’s repeated claims that he has had no interest in his son’s affairs. This will likely lend credibility to Kevin McCarthy’s suggestion that the President should face an impeachment inquiry. The Republican House Speaker told Fox News’s Sean Hannity, “He said his family has never received a dollar from China, which we prove is not true.”
