House GOP Reveals Its First Oversight Hearing Target

( )- According to media reports, the House Oversight Committee will hold its first hearing to examine the border crisis and the Biden administration.

The hearing, scheduled for February 6, coincides with unprecedented increases in illegal immigration. The committee revealed on Thursday that it had spoken with the heads of several southern Border Patrol sectors and had written to Alejandro Mayorkas, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) secretary, requesting documents about the administration’s role in undermining border security initiatives.

Immigration watchdogs report that in December, federal officials at the border between the United States and Mexico dealt with a record number of more than 250,000 illegal migrants.

Reports show Biden holds congressional Republicans responsible for failing to enact reforms that would fix the ‘broken’ immigration system.

Biden himself willingly ‘broke’ the system on his own.

According to reports, Republicans counter that Biden bears responsibility.

The committee’s chairman James Comer stated that President Biden’s radical open borders agenda sparked the worst border crisis in American history. The deliberate actions of the Biden Administration are fueling human smuggling, encouraging drug cartel operations, enabling deadly drugs like fentanyl to flow into American communities, and encouraging illegal immigrants to flout U.S. immigration laws.

Comer said that Republicans would hold the Biden Administration responsible for the ongoing crisis in public health, national security, and humanitarian aid that has made every town a border town.

Chairman Comer has invited the following career government officials to testify at the hearing about how U.S. Border Patrol agents are handling the crisis and how it has affected their effort to secure the border:

U.S. Border Patrol Chief Patrol Agents Jason Owens, Gregory Bovino, Gloria Chavez, and

U.S. Border Patrol Acting Chief Patrol Agent Patricia McGurk-Daniel.

Additionally, Chairman Comer requested documents, communications, and details from U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas regarding DHS’s role in undermining efforts to secure the southern border in a letter to Mayorkas.

Because of the crisis that he also blamed on Biden, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has threatened to impeach Mayorkas from office.
