Governor Signs Ban Targeting Gun Owners

(RoyalPatriot.com )- On Tuesday evening, Democratic Governor J.B. Pritzker signed a bill that prohibits commonly held semiautomatic guns and magazines that Democrats regard to have a “high capacity.”

After Pritzker’s signature, the law started being enforced straight away. Those who already have the now-prohibited firearms can keep them, but they are required to register them with the Illinois State Police. New owners will not be able to purchase the rifles.

Immediately following Pritzker’s signature on the law, his staff issued a statement. A portion of what was written read as follows: “The new law also requires existing owners of semi-automatic rifles to register their ownership. This ensures that law enforcement knows the whereabouts of these weapons of war and who to hold accountable if they fall into the wrong hands.”

A further quote from Pritzker was included in the statement. It went as follows: “For the past four years, my administration and my colleagues in the State Capitol have been battling the powerful forces of the NRA to enshrine the strongest and most effective gun violence legislation that we possibly can.”

He said to say that we succeeded despite the fact that the odds were against them is something he is exceptionally proud of. And they will “continue to battle — bill by bill, vote by vote, and protest by protest — to ensure that future generations will only learn about tragedies like Highland Park, Sandy Hook, and Uvalde in their school textbooks.”

Individuals who disobey the law and people who conduct violent crimes will not register their firearms. They are also not going to turn in their magazines.

This will not prevent the commission of that crime. The result of this will be that law-abiding gun owners will again be impacted by laws passed by this General Assembly and have their rights protected by the Second Amendment restricted.
