Ghislaine Maxwell Is Trying To Get Moved To A UK Prison

( )- Ghislaine Maxwell reportedly wants to spend most of her prison time in the UK in an effort to escape what her family considers to be “inhuman” conditions in Brooklyn, where she’s currently held up.

Maxwell, now 60, pleaded not guilty to charges that she procured underage girls for the notorious Jeffrey Epstein. She was held without bail since her arrest in July 2021.

At the close of the trial in December, Maxwell was found guilty for the sex trafficking of a minor, transporting a minor with the intent to engage in sexual activity, and five of six counts of sexual abuse of minor girls between 1994 and 2004. She is sentenced to serve 55 years in prison. Her lawyers immediately began an appeal.

Her family told The Telegraph that prisons in the UK are “far superior” to the ones in the United States, so after serving her mandatory three years in the U.S. they will be able to file a request to get her into the UK, where Maxwell hopes to have more family visits. Maxwell currently holds three citizenships, one in the United States, France, and the UK.

The family subsequently filed an appeal to the United Nations, complaining of Maxwell’s prison conditions.

One source told The Mail that the American system is a disgrace, but in the UK, people are treated “fairly and with a measure of decency.” Another close friend of Maxwell reportedly implied that America was not a civilized country.

“Given the vile prison conditions in the US, if I were her, I would want to be transferred to any civilized country,” the friend said.

Lawyers for Maxwell allegedly told a judge that she deserves a lenient sentence, serving no more than five years for sex trafficking underaged girls. They called it “a travesty of justice for her to face a sentence that would have been appropriate for Epstein,” if only he had not killed himself.
