The body of Marco Troper (19), son of Susan Wojcicki, the former CEO of YouTube, was recently discovered in Berkeley, California.
His lifeless body was discovered at the university’s Clark Kerr Campus. He was a first-year math major. No evidence of foul play was found. However, the reason for the death remains under investigation. A toxicology study may take as much as thirty days to determine the cause.
According to a report, the University of California Police Department (UCPD) confirmed that no indications of suspicious behavior were found.
Around 4:30 p.m. local time, someone found Troper motionless in his dorm room at the student housing complex. Troper was declared dead at the site despite the Berkeley Fire Department’s rapid efforts to save his life.
Troper was characterized as a highly accomplished mathematician who was deeply committed to finding a cancer treatment using artificial intelligence and nanotechnologies.
Until 2023, his mother, Susan Wojcicki, oversaw YouTube as its chief executive officer.
US House Republicans subpoenaed Alphabet, Microsoft, Apple, Amazon, and Facebook/Meta CEOs the day before she resigned. Wojcicki was not included in the list of CEOs who were subpoenaed, even though YouTube is a division of Alphabet.
Wojcicki pushed for additional speech rules to limit “unapproved” internet expression. Wojcicki said in April 2020 that she would remove any COVID-related YouTube content that disagreed with the official demands of the World Health Organization (WHO).
Troper’s grandmother, Esther Wojcicki, was so distraught that she turned to Facebook to share her feelings. She said that what killed Marco is still a mystery. Nonetheless, according to Esther Wojcicki’s statements to a San Francisco news outlet, she has reason to believe that her grandson died of a drug overdose. To validate the details, the family is awaiting the toxicology result.
She added that they don’t know what was contained in the drug he took. The family’s best guess is that it was a narcotic. Esther Wojcicki emphasized that their goal is to ensure this doesn’t happen to other families.
