In 2026, a spectacular “Americana-themed” amusement park worth $2 billion is set to open, breaking away from the typical theme park hubs and spanning thousands of miles.
Introducing the American Heartland Theme Park and Resort, a vast entertainment complex comparable in size to Disney World’s Magic Kingdom in Florida or Disneyland in California, but with a unique twist—it will be located just off Route 66 in the heart of northeast Oklahoma.
Positioned on historic Route 66, west of Grand Lake, this development aims to attract visitors from all corners of the globe, allowing them to immerse themselves in and celebrate the rich cultures and cherished values that America embodies.
The park’s blueprint includes classic amusement rides, captivating live shows, family-oriented attractions, serene waterways, and a diverse range of restaurants, collectively crafting an enchanting “Americana-themed environment.”
The choice of Oklahoma as the park’s location was due to the state’s “business-friendly approach and innovative partnership efforts,” as stated by American Heartland CEO Larry Wilhite. He emphasized that Oklahoma’s position at the crossroads of the heartland makes it an ideal setting for a family entertainment destination, and the team is eagerly looking forward to providing unforgettable, multi-generational experiences to visitors in this fantastic location.
The theme park, designed by an exceptional team comprising more than 20 former Disney Parks builders and Walt Disney Imagineers, spans 125 acres. It features six distinct regions, each representing different chapters of “the American story,” creating an extraordinary tapestry of experiences for all who venture within its gates.
Visitors planning to experience the American Heartland Theme Park and Resort will have two excellent accommodation options. The first is a 300-room hotel, currently under development, offering comfort and convenience to guests. The second option is the sprawling Three Ponies RV Park and Campground, covering an expansive 320 acres. This massive campground can accommodate 750 RV spaces and 300 cabins, all with modern amenities.
Once completed, the Three Ponies RV Park and Campground would be the largest campground in the central United States. This impressive undertaking is part of the company’s $2 billion investment in the overall development project.
The development is expected to create around 4,000 jobs, providing opportunities for employment and growth in the region. Additionally, the influx of tourists is anticipated to affect Oklahoma’s tourism industry substantially. American heartland estimates that the combined allure of the theme park and resort will draw in more than 4.9 million guests annually to the state.
