Jameela Jamil’s Controversial Comment Ignites Firestorm
Actress and activist Jameela Jamil has found herself at the center of a heated controversy after publicly expressing admiration for Luigi Mangione, the alleged assassin of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. Jamil literally described the shooter as a “star” on an Instagram post about Mangione – and the comment has sparked outrage on the right and a ton of praise on the left.
“A star is born,” Jamil said.
Known for her outspoken stance on various social issues, Jamil has long been a critic of the healthcare industry. However, her apparent endorsement of an alleged murderer has crossed a line for many, including fellow celebrities and political figures. The incident raises serious questions about the responsibility of public figures when commenting on sensitive matters and the potential consequences of their words.
The Alleged Assassin: Luigi Mangione
Luigi Mangione, a 26-year-old computer science graduate and former high school valedictorian, is charged with the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. The shooting took place outside a Hilton hotel in Manhattan, where Thompson was attending an investor meeting. Mangione’s arrest at a McDonald’s in Altoona, Pennsylvania, revealed a disturbing array of evidence, including a 3D-printed ghost gun, a silencer, and a manifesto criticizing the healthcare industry.
Shell casings found at the scene bore words like “deny,” “defend,” and “depose,” suggesting a motive deeply rooted in dissatisfaction with health insurance practices. Mangione’s manifesto reportedly detailed extreme views against the American healthcare system, focusing on the prioritization of profits over patient care.
The Backlash: Celebrities and Politicians Respond
Jamil’s comment has not gone unchallenged. Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro strongly condemned those sympathizing with Mangione, emphasizing that violence is never an acceptable solution to policy disagreements. Actor Michael Rapaport criticized the hypocrisy of celebrating an alleged murderer while simultaneously opposing toxic masculinity.
“Free Luigi? You motherfuckers have been complaining and whining about toxic masculinity unless it’s a cold blooded killer with a nice jawline. This is who you idolize? This is who you want to be free? A sick fuck. A sick, white privileged, valedictorian, cold blooded killing fuck,” Rapaport said.
So, at least some lefties get it.
Surely, sooner or later, the left will give up this murderous insanity? Right?
