(RoyalPatriot.com )- If Elon Musk’s quest to acquire Twitter is successful, there looks to be some bad news in store for the platform’s primary censor.
According to Bloomberg News, the billionaire’s offer to buy Twitter, which the board of directors accepted, included employment layoffs.
According to Reuters, he also plans to limit staff salaries.
Musk pitched to bankers as he attempted to arrange funding for the buyout days after submitting his bid to Twitter on April 14. Twitter’s board of directors accepted his “best and last” offer after he submitted bank commitments on April 21.
Musk had to persuade the banks that Twitter’s cash flow was sufficient to cover the loan he was seeking. He eventually got $13 billion in loans secured against Twitter and a $12.5 billion margin loan secured on his Tesla Inc (TSLA.O) shares. He promised to pay the balance of the payment with his own money.
Musk’s pitch to the banks consisted of his vision rather than solid pledges, and the exact cost reduction he would seek once he controls Twitter is unknown. According to the sources, the proposal he detailed to banks lacked depth.
Vijaya Gadde, the head censor, earns $17 million per year and is reported to have played a crucial part in removing former President Donald Trump off of the site and burying the Hunter Biden laptop scandal.
Tim Pool, a conservative journalist, questioned her in a 2019 interview on the “Joe Rogan Experience,” where they both appeared.
“So your platform has speech restrictions?” Pool asked.
Gadde answered, “Our platform promotes speech until individuals break our guidelines.”
“But In a definite direction,” Pool said accurately.
Pool then discussed research from Quillette that revealed that “out of 22 high-profile bannings, 21 were from the right.
Gadde said when she looks at tweets, she doesn’t look at their political spectrum.
Musk shared a photo in which he believes she tried to hide her apparent prejudice.
After Musk’s offer to buy Twitter was accepted last week, Gadde, the company’s senior attorney, had a virtual conference with the policy and legal teams to discuss the implications of the new ownership.
The high-powered lawyer, who is due to get a $12.5 million severance payment if she is fired, wept over the company’s uncertain future.
She spoke at length about how happy she is with her team’s job and encouraged staff to keep striving to produce excellent work at the firm.
Gadde has been with Twitter since 2011 and is the executive in charge of the company’s trust and safety, legal, and public policy operations. Internally, she is regarded as Twitter’s “moral authority” and the executive in charge of delicate topics such as harassment and harmful speech.
According to one person familiar with the circumstances, Gadde had a crucial role in negotiating the arrangement between Twitter and Musk.
Gadde has already expressed her views on free speech and its necessity to be regulated.
In a 2015 op-ed for The Washington Post, she said that she is often inspired by the vigorous debates on controversial issues that occur on Twitter, but she’s also been seriously troubled by the plight of some of their users who are completely overwhelmed by those who are trying to silence healthy discourse in the name of free expression. At times, this takes the shape of hateful comments directed at women or minority groups. At other times, it takes the form of threats intended to frighten individuals who take a stance on issues.
It bears repeating. 21 out of 22 high-profile bannings were directed at the right.
All of her yammerings cannot obscure this fact.
