(RoyalPatriot.com )- In March, President Joe Biden instructed Vice President Kamala Harris to take on the border crisis as her issue. It’s now mid-June and the vice president still hasn’t visited the border, and everyone in the Biden administration appears to be rallying together to protect her from perfectly fair scrutiny over the issue.
Alejandro Mayorkas, Biden’s Secretary for the Department of Homeland Security, faced off against Republican Rep. Ralph Norman during a House Homeland Security hearing. Mayorkas, who was testifying, was asked whether he believed it would be appropriate for Vice President Harris to visit the southern border of the United States.
His response? “I consider that question to be quite unfair.”
Unfair? The president told Vice President Harris to deal with the “root causes” of the border crisis in March, and so far, all she’s done is travel to Guatemala and give a speech to angry residents who didn’t want her there, and tell potential illegal immigrants “do not come.”
At this point, it almost feels as though Biden is purposely setting her up to be unpopular, right?
Rep. Norman hit back and said the secretary’s comments were also unfair.
“I asked you a simple question,” he said, before adding that he would like a simple answer. He then asked if it makes sense for the nation’s leaders to go to the border and see the crisis for themselves.
Secretary Mayorkas then said that Harris was “quite familiar” with the border crisis given her previous work as the attorney general of California.
But that’s not true. The crisis at the southern border is worse than it has been for decades. Under President Donald Trump, the number of illegal aliens apprehended at the border every month dropped to the tens of thousands by the last year of his administration. Under the Biden administration, however, that number rose to 180,000 in May.
The Biden administration can only protect her so long on this issue…
