Democrats Think Abortion Is THE Most Important Issue Heading Into 2022

( )- A new poll just revealed how Democrats are increasingly leaning in on so-called “abortion rights” as a policy priority, suggesting that the Biden administration and the Democrat-run Congress may do more on the issue before the next midterms in the hope of maintaining control of the House and the Senate.

Some 13% of Democrats mentioned “reproductive rights” as one of the top issues that they expect the federal government to tackle in 2022, according to a poll from The Associated Press and the NORC Center for Public Affairs Research in December. In 2020, only 3% of Democrats considered it a top priority for the federal government.

Among the other top issues that Democrats care about were healthcare, gun control, and the COVID-19 pandemic – all of which ranked higher. However, the fact that so-called “abortion rights” have now entered the double digits in these polls indicates a rising awareness about the issue.

It’s likely a result of the fact that Roe v. Wade faces its strongest threat in several decades, with the conservative-leaning Supreme Court expected to make rulings in multiple lawsuits in the coming months.

Jennifer Benz, the deputy director of the NORC Center for Public Affairs Research said that the public has a “lot of things” they want to see the government address, and the fact that abortion rose to the top during the midst of a pandemic and “economic turmoil” was surprising.

The question is…how will the Biden administration respond to this? Could his efforts to pack the Supreme Court become a reality in the wake of a possible ruling against Roe v. Wade before the end of his first term?
