Trump’s Executive Orders Target DEI Programs
In a decisive move following his return to office, President Donald Trump has taken swift action on cultural issues that formed a key part of his campaign. The President signed executive orders that effectively end federal diversity programs and limit gender definitions to two categories: male and female.
The executive orders have far-reaching implications for federal agencies and departments, mandating the termination of all DEI and environmental justice roles and offices. Trump’s administration has characterized these programs as “discriminatory” and contrary to American values.
Which, of course, they are.
Following the President’s directive, newly appointed FCC Chair Brendan Carr wasted no time in implementing the changes at his agency. Carr announced the complete elimination of DEI programs from the FCC, aligning the commission’s policies with the executive order.
The FCC’s actions include removing DEI from its Strategic Plan and budget requests, disbanding its DEI advisory group, and eliminating the 2022 equity action plan. Furthermore, DEI will no longer be promoted in the FCC’s economic reports and annual performance plans.
The executive orders signed by President Trump go beyond just eliminating DEI programs, too.
They also aim to reshape the federal hiring process, emphasizing skills, experience, and patriotism over factors like equity and gender identity.
“The Biden Administration forced illegal and immoral discrimination programs, going by the name ‘Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion’ (DEI), into virtually all aspects of the Federal Government, in areas ranging from airline safety to the military,” President Donald Trump said.
This shift in policy is expected to have significant impacts on federal employment practices. Positions related to “environmental justice,” equity action plans, and DEI officer roles are slated to be cut across various government agencies.
So in other words, America is a meritocracy again.
“Federal hiring should not be based on impermissible factors, such as one’s commitment to illegal racial discrimination under the guise of ‘equity,’ or one’s commitment to the invented concept of ‘gender identity’ over sex,” President Donald Trump said.
Imagine what four years of hiring people based on merit will do for the U.S. government…and America!
