If you hit somebody with your car, by accident of course, you’d notice, right?
Well, apparently, not everyone would. It turns out that a 16-year-old boy was recently hit by a car and the driver opted to drive four whole miles before stopping.
The boy is now in the hospital.

A tragic hit-and-run incident in Avon, Connecticut, has left 16-year-old Liam Shields in critical condition after he was struck by a car and carried more than four miles on the roof of the vehicle. The driver, identified as 29-year-old Alex Joel Rivera, allegedly hit Shields while he was riding his bicycle at around 9:16 p.m. on Friday and fled the scene, according to police.
The incident came to light when police responded to reports of debris, including a damaged bicycle, on the road. Although the bicyclist was not found at the scene, a second call soon alerted authorities to the injured teenager, later identified as Shields, lying by the side of the road.
Police determined that Shields was trapped on the roof of Rivera’s red Subaru Forester after being struck and was carried for more than four miles before Rivera stopped, pushed him off the car, and drove away. Two witnesses who had seen the Subaru pull over earlier returned to the area, sensing something was wrong, and found the teen.
Liam Shields, a student and soccer player at Avon High School, was taken to the hospital where he is fighting for his life. A GoFundMe page organized by a family friend has raised over $51,000 to support the family during this difficult time.
Rivera has been arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including reckless endangerment, evading responsibility, and operating a vehicle without a license. The investigation is ongoing as Shields remains in critical condition.
