American Company Caught Red-Handed Aiding Putin’s War Machine?
Just when you thought the circus couldn’t get any more absurd, folks. We’ve got over 50 members of Congress – yes, you heard that right, both Democrats and Republicans – banging on Biden’s door. Why, you ask? Because apparently, we’ve got ourselves a homegrown company playing Santa Claus to Putin’s oil fields while our Ukrainian allies are dodging Russian bullets.
The company in the hot seat is SLB, a major U.S. oil field service provider. Now, you’d think with all the chest-thumping about sanctions, someone would’ve noticed a American company sneaking millions of dollars worth of equipment into Russia. But no, apparently, that slipped right under everyone’s noses. It’s like watching a magic show where the magician forgot to hide the rabbit.

The Sanction Sieve: How Effective Are We Really Being?
Now, let’s talk about these sanctions. We’ve been told they’re tighter than a drum, choking off Putin’s war chest. But if that’s the case, how is it that Western companies are still able to waltz into Russia’s oil sector like it’s happy hour at the local bar? It’s enough to make you wonder if our sanction strategy has more holes than Swiss cheese.
“This U.S.-based company is keeping Vladimir Putin’s war machine well-oiled with financing for the barbaric invasion of Ukraine. We urge you to continue supporting our Ukrainian allies by pursuing more rigorous oil sanctions to effectively restrict Putin’s profits. In concert with our allies in the [Group of Seven], we must tighten oil sanctions to prevent the billions in revenue currently flowing into the Kremlin’s budget. Permitting Western investment in the oil and gas sector strengthens Russia’s wartime economy and its military strength,” Reps. Lloyd Doggett (D-Texas) and Jake Auchincloss (D-Mass.) wrote.
At least some of our esteemed representatives seem to have woken up from their bureaucratic slumber. Reps. Lloyd Doggett and Jake Auchincloss are leading the charge, calling out this madness for what it is. They’re demanding answers from Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and Secretary of State Antony Blinken. Good luck with that, gentlemen. You might have better luck getting a straight answer from a politician during election season.

The Great Sanction Loophole Circus
Here’s where it gets really rich, folks. These congressional heroes are asking for a list of all approved exceptions to American sanctions. Exceptions? You mean to tell me we’re playing “Mother, May I?” with Putin’s oil buddies? What’s next, a frequent flyer program for sanction-dodgers?
And let’s not forget the grand irony here. While we’re busy exporting natural gas to Europe to wean them off Russian energy, we’ve got an American company potentially helping Russia pump more oil. It’s like trying to put out a fire with one hand while pouring gasoline with the other. Brilliant strategy, truly worthy of our finest geopolitical minds.
