Biden Faces Investigation By Congress After Refusing to Act On Border Crisis

House Republicans aren’t letting President Biden off easy, launching an investigation into his horrific handling of the border during his time as president. A staggering 10 million illegal crossings have sparked nationwide outrage and pushed lawmakers to demand accountability for the consequences of the last four years.

At a glance:

• House Homeland Security subcommittee to hold hearings titled “Consequences of Failure: How Biden’s Policies Fueled the Border Crisis”

• Over 10 million people entered the U.S. illegally during Biden’s administration according to Customs and Border Protection

• More than 662,000 illegal aliens entering under Biden had criminal convictions or pending charges

• Fentanyl seizures tripled under Biden compared to Trump, with over 68,000 pounds seized

• The Trump administration has begun reversing Biden’s border policies after two months in office

Republicans Expose Biden’s Border Failure

The House Homeland Security Committee’s subcommittee is preparing to investigate what Republicans are calling “the worst border crisis in American history.” This will be the first border security hearing of the 119th Congress, aiming to expose how Biden administration policies created unprecedented illegal immigration levels.

Representative Michael Guest did not mince words about the previous administration’s border management. “There is no question that Joe Biden and his reckless administration created the worst border crisis in American history,” the Mississippi Republican stated.

The committee will examine how Biden’s reversal of Trump-era policies directly led to the surge at the southern border. This includes ending the successful “Remain in Mexico” policy and reinstating “catch and release” practices that allowed millions to enter and disappear into American communities.

Human Cost of Open Borders

The border crisis has had deadly consequences for American citizens, with Republicans pointing to tragic cases like the murder of a Georgia nursing student by an illegal immigrant. These preventable tragedies have become rallying points for those demanding stricter border enforcement.

“These failures took the lives of innocent Americans and led to the unimaginable abuse of vulnerable men, women, and children along their journey to our doorstep,” Guest emphasized. The subcommittee will hear testimony from border security experts including Lora Ries, Ammon Blair, and Jon Anfinsen.

Cities across America have been financially strained by the influx, with New York City alone spending $3.75 billion on asylum-seeker services in fiscal year 2024. The financial burden has forced many Democratic mayors to publicly plead for federal assistance.

Drug trafficking exploded under Biden’s watch, with Customs and Border Protection seizing over 68,000 pounds of deadly fentanyl compared to just 20,000 pounds during Trump’s first term. Fentanyl has become the leading cause of death for Americans aged 18 to 45.

Trump’s Border Turnaround

The Trump administration has wasted no time addressing the border catastrophe inherited from Biden. “After just two months in office, the Trump administration has restored law and order at our borders,” Representative Guest noted.

While Biden and former DHS Secretary Mayorkas blamed the crisis on global migration patterns and resource shortages, critics maintain the chaos was intentional. The subcommittee is expected to investigate whether Biden’s policies deliberately undermined border security as part of a broader agenda.

The upcoming hearings will analyze Biden’s controversial use of the CBP One app and special parole programs that critics say circumvented immigration laws. And it’s about time.
