If you’re an Aussie, or if you’re a fan of global television, you may just know of Andrew O’Keefe. The former TV star and lawyer made his name as the co-host of the Weekend Sunrise breakfast show host between 2005 and 2017. He also starred in a number of popular TV shows, including The Chase Australia and Deal Or No Deal – two popular quiz and competition shows that have been replicated in various English and non-English-speaking countries.
His life is about to take an interesting turn, though. O’Keefe has reportedly just been charged with returning a positive drug test after officers from the Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command stopped him over the weekend while driving his Mercedes in Sydney. Not only was the TV star determined to be under the influence of drugs as he drove, he was also found to have been driving with a suspended license…which means he’s not likely to be driving again any time soon.
According to police officers, O’Keefe was stopped after he threatened a man in the Point Piper suburb of the Australian city. After being stopped and questioned by officers, O’Keefe was escorted to the Waverley Police Station facility while security testing was conducted.
The arrest, which took place on Sunday, is one in a string of recent arrests and incidents for the star. In January, O’Keefe was convicted of domestic violence. The charge dates back to 2021, when he is understood to have kicked and spat at a woman. O’Keefe was eventually found guilty of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, common assault, and a couple of counts of possessing a prohibited drug. For that arrest, O’Keefe managed to avoid jail time – but he was sentenced to 12 months of community service and a further 18 months of community service for domestic violence charges.
It just goes to show…fame isn’t everything. We’re sure our readers are praying for O’Keefe to turn his life around.
