A New App That Might Be The “New TikTok”

(RoyalPatriot.com )- As TikTok might be phasing out in the United States for its potential danger to national security, a new app might be surfacing, called Temu, according to Just the News. TikTok has recently been under intense scrutiny from politicians and federal agencies who consider it to be a trojan horse for the Chinese Communist Party.

The app has been involved in several scandals, with one jeopardizing user privacy when it was revealed that the app was copying information from users’ iOS clipboards, according to American Pigeon. Former President Donald Trump reportedly signed an executive order in August 2020 that would have banned the app in the United States, but it was not effective.

Two years after Trump left office, other politicians are sounding the alarm.

“I think Donald Trump was right. I mean, TikTok is an enormous threat,” said Democratic Senator Mark Warner while on Fox News.

The House has recently ordered that TikTok be removed from staff phones and prohibited from being downloaded.

But another app is now reportedly taking the country by storm. Temu is an online shopping site owned by Shanghai-based Pinduoduo Inc. that is rivaling Amazon in providing cheap prices for a wide range of items coming from China.

Like all apps, Temu collects user data and may be regarded as a threat to national security because that data is likely to be shared with the CCP. Pinduoduo is a tech company and most tech companies in China are related or tied to the state party.

It has lately been suggested that the U.S. and China are in a “tech cold war,” where the country with the best semiconductor capabilities, artificial intelligence, and breakthroughs in quantum computing will win. Cyberespionage and intellectual property (IP) theft are two key acts that the war reportedly revolves around.
